(Lieb' und Leib! Und Welt und Traum!) Chinese ink, colour, rice paper This piece was inspired by the Alberta/ Edmonton Opera world premier collaboration on Emily Molner’s “Song of Wayfarer” set to mystical compositions of the great composers, Gusta Mahler and Yukichi Hottori. The work is the vision I get from the dance and music. In addition, it bridges both Asian and Western cultures by incorporating the techniques and stylization from both worlds. My goal is to provide the viewer with the merging of the senses: sight, sound and physical movement. |

24" x 48" Mixed media on rice paper and canvas I started this painting in February 2011 and completed it on 15 January 2012. This painting is called “5 Dragons” as each dragon represents one of the five elements in Chinese tradition (Metal, Wood, Water, Fire and Earth) with each dragon painted a different colour. The colours represent the different sources of energy in the universe. |

16" x 23" Chinese ink, colour, rice paper On a Sunday afternoon, through a window, I saw three feathers in a row on a rough terrain. An image of an animal appeared to me. The meaning is to capture a part of life as through a window.

16" x 20" Ink, colour and rice paper on canvas I cried when I was born.
I've seen the other side of this world.
Darkness,cold,
Blood and war,
People are dying.
And nothing I can do.
Rich and poor,
Unbalance life,
Hunger and death,
Is there anyting I can do?
Born in the East,
Flew to the West,
I've seen the other side of the this world.
It need peace and love.
Brush and colour,
Paint on paper,
Give strength through the canvas.
The flying dragon,
To teach people to care and love. |

14" x 24" Chinese ink, rice paper This is one of my works from the series, “Dream Mountains” (梦山系列).
I used dancing brush strokes for the Chinese calligraphy of “Mo”“墨”, and then I incorporated floating water and ink on rice paper to create the foundation for this painting. Finally I mounted it on a board and continued to develop the shape and different tones for the mountain. I used acrylic gesso for two corners in the bottom.
